Don't worry. The so-called "environmentalists" will come up with some reason as to why Oil and Gas production should not proceed in these "sensitive" areas.

If you look at the Google or Landsat images of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles and Eastern NM you will find there is no problem if the wind farms are put on land already under cultivation. Prairie Chickens won't go near farm land so there is no real clash. Only reason there is a "problem" is who get s the royalty payment as a land owner. The big ranchers or the farmers. Just like the Lincoln County land wars with Billy the Kid and Pat Garret.
Can't believe how dumb (or biased)the people who write and post these stories on line are.

At some point we need to think globally but act locally. We need to save ourselves first.

From below- "Forget that bird;DRILL & PRODUCE JOBS PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!." "Stop killing jobs."
The Republican motto - as long as we're making money, who cares what happens to the environment? If we're making money, it must be good!

I don't know about this one . . . but so many "threatened species" protections have no common sense factors.

mycar2 says: there are other places they can build on
I am sorry to be blunt, but do you function as an independent adult? You drill for oil where the oil is, you build wind turbines where the wind is steady and common. Why don't YOU finance some turbines down in a valley where the wind is weak and rare or drill for oil where research says it is not located. There may be some vacancies at the EPA or DOE, you'd fit right in.

It really depends on who is paying the taxes on the land.
If you are paying them, then you should choose how the land is used.

camel1 says: we need to protect the species but there have to be reasonable limits too.
Unfortunately, no thought is given to WHO decides what "reasonable" is. There are as many opinions as those asked. Thus, what SOUNDS like the most reasonable solution is, in reality, unworkable. You can bet that everyone in the EPA and the DOE all believe they are "reasonable". Few of us would agree. Defund them all and let's get to work.
By the way, the chickens can NOT co-exist with the wind turbines. Too many chickens will be killed when the flying birds killed by the blades fall on them.

I am sick and tired of these environmental nuts trying to save species that are no longer suited to an ever changing environment. Environmental change and extinction of some species is a natural process that has been going on with living organisms for at least 3.3 billion years. Stupid idiots!

Wind farms versus the chicken, I mean the prairie chicken.
Want to save the prairie chicken?
Start raising them for food.
